How Long Should a Tower Fan Last
Inspect the intake grille about once a month and vacuum it when dust forms or airflow drops. Never open the motor housing.
- Unplug the fan before you touch it.
- Look at the intake grille on the back.
- Clean it when a visible layer of dust forms, or when airflow begins to decrease.
- Attach a soft brush or narrow crevice tool to your vacuum.
- Start at the top of the rear grille and work down.
- Vacuum the front outlet grille the same way.
- Wipe the housing with a microfiber cloth that you've wrung out thoroughly.
- Let every part dry completely before you plug the fan back in.
Keep a few things away from the fan. Don't spray cleaner into it. Don't use alcohol or solvents such as gasoline, benzene or paint thinner. On this Lasko tower fan, clean the fan only with a vacuum with a brush attachment. Clean the body only with a soft cloth.
Never open the motor housing. Doing so can damage it, cause injury or affect your warranty. If you are still choosing a model, the best tower fan page is the place to start.
